HPLC

HPLC is the abbreviation for high-performance liquid chromatography, in German: high-performance liquid chromatography. Chromatography, haven't we had it before? Yes, you remember correctly, we already covered the so-called “color writing” a manageable 37 episodes ago. Would you like to read it again quickly? Ah, there you are again! With HPLC, it is now also possible to separate and analyze mixtures of substances; as the name suggests, however, this method is carried out at peak performance, which results in a reduced analysis time. The use of a mobile phase and a stationary phase should be equally familiar: Using a flow agent, the sample to be separated is conveyed under high pressure through a column in which the components of the substance mixture are separated from their adsorbent sooner or later, i.e. dissolved out, according to their properties. At the end of the column, electronic components, known as detectors, wait for the substances to analyze them.
