HYDROGEN CARBONATE is an anion or a salt of carbonic acid, a component of water and therefore also part of the carbonate hardness. In the course of partial desalination or decarbonization, all HYDROGEN CARBONATES are removed from the alkaline earth metals, including calcium and magnesium hydrogen carbonates.
